Over the years as a creative producer, one of my favorite things is seeing footage I captured years ago take on a whole new life. That’s exactly what happened with my work for Waters Edge Dock & Hoist in Howell. A few years back, I filmed their original company videos—“About Waters Edge” and “The Waters Edge Company Story.” Those projects were about documenting their craft, their work ethic, and the family-driven passion behind what they build on Michigan’s lakes. We had some early mornings in those days, getting up before the sun.
Those shoots were special. We weren’t staging anything—we were capturing real people doing real work, and that authenticity became the core of their brand.
Fast forward to today, and all of that old footage suddenly became valuable again. Waters Edge was ready to expand their reach, and instead of starting a new production from scratch, I dove back into the hard drives and rebuilt everything—fresh edits, updated branding, tightened messaging, and new pacing for modern platforms.
What we ended up with was a performance-focused video ad campaign built entirely from the content I captured years ago.
I created a shortened, punchier video ad designed for distribution across:
-
Google Ads
-
YouTube
-
Meta Ads (Facebook + Instagram)
-
Reels
-
And future paid placements as needed
The beauty of repurposing good footage is that it still feels honest and strong—it just needed a new structure to match today’s attention spans and marketing goals.
Once the new cut was finished, we launched a targeted paid campaign aimed at lakefront homeowners actively searching for dock and hoist services. With proper tracking in place, we could identify website visitors, retarget them across the internet, and drive them back to Waters Edge through video ads that actually meant something—because they were built on real moments, not stock footage.
Seeing those ads start converting—turning curiosity into calls and form submissions—was the rewarding part. What started years ago as a storytelling project has now become a full marketing cycle: original footage → refreshed creative → paid distribution → real leads.
It’s been meaningful watching Waters Edge grow and evolve over time, and to see the content I originally produced continue to deliver value years later. That’s the power of thoughtful production—when you shoot with purpose, the footage doesn’t expire. It becomes an asset that can be repurposed again and again as the business grows.
As a creative producer, that’s exactly what I aim to do for every client: capture their story in a way that stands the test of time, and then help them use those visuals strategically through paid ads and targeted distribution to get real results.
With Waters Edge Dock & Hoist, the story came full circle—and the footage came right back to the front line, doing what great video does best: driving growth.
