Early Finishing Genetics & Real-World Results

Filming the Mendo Twenty20 Testimonial with Rollganic Gardens

One of the most valuable parts of working in this industry isn’t just pressing record — it’s learning the craft behind the craft.

I met Adam from Mendo Twenty20 through my guys Rollganic Gardens — Alex, Jason, and Randall. They’ve been running Adam’s genetics in their Michigan fields, including his early-finishing varieties and custom crosses designed specifically for their environment.

And honestly? It opened my eyes.

Learning the Power of Genetics

Before working closely with Rollganic, I didn’t fully grasp how strategic cannabis genetics could be. I knew strains mattered. I knew there were different terpene profiles and effects.

But who knew you could mold genetics like that?

Adam isn’t just releasing seeds — he’s engineering performance. Early-finishing varieties that are tailored for outdoor fields in climates like Michigan. Custom crosses built to hit harvest windows before weather turns. Genetics that balance potency, yield, structure, and resilience.

Watching Rollganic plant fields populated with these intentional crosses showed me how much science and long-term thinking goes into what most consumers just see as a final product.

It’s agriculture.
It’s forecasting.
It’s risk management.
It’s art and science blended.

Setting the Stage for the Testimonial

While working with the Rollganic team during the season, we carved out time to properly tell that story.

We filmed the testimonial right there in the garden. I interviewed Jason in the field, surrounded by the very plants grown from Mendo Twenty20 genetics. No studio. No artificial set. Just real-world results behind him. That authenticity mattered. Jason was able to speak not just as a grower — but as someone who trusts Adam’s work enough to populate entire fields with it.

To bring it full circle, Adam recorded a strong voiceover to bookend the project. His narration framed the bigger picture: the philosophy behind Mendo Twenty20, the commitment to early finishing genetics, and the responsibility breeders have to the farmers who depend on them.

That voiceover elevated the film from testimonial to educational piece.

Educating the Audience

This wasn’t just a promo video. We used this project to educate the audience on:

  • What early-finishing genetics really mean

  • Why climate-specific breeding matters

  • How custom crosses support large-scale outdoor operations

  • The role breeders play in shaping the future of the cannabis industry

Working on this film deepened my respect for the entire supply chain — from breeder to farmer to final consumer.

As a filmmaker, I’m always looking for story. Depth is still winning in our short form social content environment. Sometimes the story isn’t dramatic — it’s foundational. It’s about innovation happening quietly behind the scenes that makes everything else possible. But the long form content still cuts down to shorter reels for promotion.

Behind the Camera Perspective

From a production standpoint, filming in a live outdoor grow is always dynamic. Light shifts constantly. Wind moves your background. Timing is everything. But that’s also what makes it real. No staged perfection. Just real plants, real farmers, real results.

And when Adam’s voiceover layered over footage of those thriving fields, it tied everything together in a way that felt authentic and earned. Projects like this remind me why I love what I do. I get to step inside industries, learn from passionate experts, and translate that knowledge into stories that educate and elevate. Depth still win in a landscape with short reels and AI created slop. The cannabis space is evolving fast — and companies like Mendo Twenty20 are helping shape that evolution through genetics built with intention.

I’m grateful Rollganic brought me into that world.
