Quick Vineyard Rip
I recently had the chance to fly for Wilson Estate Vineyards at their tasting room and vineyard in Stockbridge, Michigan—and it was one of those shoots that reminds me exactly why I love FPV.
There’s something incredible about threading a drone through rows of vines, skimming past posts, and carving along the landscape from angles you just can’t get any other way. FPV is always high-risk flying—getting close to objects is what makes it visually compelling—but that’s also what makes it so rewarding. You basically carve out a compelling line to fly, run it a few times as you get better at ironing out the path, making it more exciting. Every “rip” through the vineyard had that mix of precision, adrenaline, and flow that keeps me hooked on this style of cinematography. I also added sound effects to the clips, turning up the drama.
This flight was part of a larger media package I produced for Wilson Estate Vineyards, including visuals that capture the atmosphere of the tasting room, the character of the property, and the unique experience they offer. I also had the opportunity to design and build their brand-new website, bringing all of that media together in one cohesive space. I’ll show that off in a future post.
It was a blast to fly, a fun challenge to capture, and a project I’m proud to share. Enjoy the flight through the vines, and over the tasting room—and if you’re ever in Stockbridge, make sure to stop in and taste what they’re growing.
